What kind of tires should I buy?
I drive a 2007 Honda Civic LX. I don't necessarily need new tires right away but probably will soon (have about 35,000 miles on them and are starting to show wear) and there are some good black friday deals on tires. I have no idea which are good though. Obviously my car is not a powerhouse and doesn't have a racing suspension but I often drive it as though it did. Cost is the primary factor; I really don't want to spnd more than 70 or $80/tire and would like to spend less if possible, but I also don't want crap tires and I'd like them to be able to stand up to aggressive driving. Thanks!
Your car should have a P205/55/R16 tire on it as the original equipment size. You will want to stay with the OE size and not change tire sizes if at all possible. The downfall to this is that to stay in price range you want you will be getting a lower mileage rated tire. A good tire in that size typically starts at about $100.00ea. You will probably want to budget about $500.00 to get a good quality tire and to cover taxes and other associated costs. Go down to a reputable tire dealer or two and see what they have and recommend. Take the info you get and see how the tire rates with consumer reports. I would advise you to stay away from buying tires on the internet. When you buy tires on the internet and have them shipped to you they will need to be mounted and balanced somewhere and most shops will charge a higher price for this when tires are brought in by a customer. The other issue is should you ever have a problem with the tire it can be tough to get a tire dealer to take care of you on any adjustment.
